Rain
The rain may have stopped for a while (since Friday) but I am sure that it is just the calm before the storm. It had rained like there was no tomorrow and the worst was on last Tuesday, when four electric posts were knocked out because the force of the rain & wind caused the trees to fall on to the electric wires. Two in busy section of Boat Jetty (and uptill Friday it was not moved from there), one in Thevara & one near Palarivatom. A huge tree blocked the traffic right at the Thevara bridge, that caused problems for the evening rush hour coming from the Thoppumpady-Mattancherry-Island-Fort Kochi areas trying to head north. Me, I was in one of the buses that slowly made it's way through the crowd of vehicles that snailed it way by.
Kacherripady & North seemed to be the worst hit, the rain filled the gutters nearby and motorists had to be careful not to mistakenly drive right into the ditch concealed by the water. It was a terrible sight as we turned from the railway station road towards the main road and onto the north bridge. It didn't help that the rain was still pouring down, making it difficult not to get soaking wet. I managed to reach Edapally by around 7:15 pm to attend the small party for a collegue who was now on his way to Goa for a new job. I almost didn't make it there, as the heavy downpour and the state of the roads almost made me want to head straight for home. However, I always like to have a few in the rain, so I did go for it. Vodka (for me), rum & beer flowed onto the two tables our party occupied and I throughly enjoyed the beef that was on the menu. I really do like rain.
Song: Crying In The Rain
I'll never let you see
The way my broken heart is hurting me
I've got my pride and I know how to hide
All the sorrow and pain
I'll do my crying in the rain
If I wait for cloudy skies
You won't know the rain from the tears in my eyes
You'll never know that I still love you
So though the heartaches remain
I'll do my crying in the rain
Raindrops falling from heaven
Will never wash away my misery
But since we're not together
I'll wait for stormy weather
To hide these tears I hope you'll never see
Someday when my crying's done
I'm gonna wear a smile and walk in the sun
I may be a fool
But till then, darling, you'll never see me complain
I'll do my crying in the rain
I'll do my crying in the rain
I'll do my crying in the rain
I'll do my crying in the rain
Song for the day - "Crying In The Rain" - A-HA
